my-summerThe goal of SPBSL is to allow tennis players to compete against different opponents in a fun atmosphere. By proposing a Round-Robin Format with a weekly updated standing followed by a playoff tournament for the top players of each level, SPBSL offers the best organisation for tennis players to play multiple matches, to figure out how to compete and win and, overall, to improve. For only $30, you have 4 months of tennis scheduled!!!

We will have 3 seasons over the year: Fall (November to February), Spring (March to June) and Summer (July to October).

Based on the number of players, we can offer 5 different levels in the MEN’s league:

  • 3.5
  • 4.0
  • 4.2
  • 4.5
  • 5.0+

In the WOMEN’s league, we could have 3 different levels:

  • 3.5
  • 4.0
  • 4.5+

With the SAME CONCEPT, we could have MIXED DOUBLES and MEN’S DOUBLES LEAGUE. If you are interested in the Doubles league, contact us!!

The way the league works : We set up the games for you. From there, you will reach out to your opponent (phone call, email, text) and schedule your match at both players convenience. There is no specific day to play. Most players play at night or on weekends but we do have players available during the day. We also set up the location: HOME or AWAY. Knowing that a vast majority of the players play within the Boca/Delray area, it is actually nice to discover different places and sometimes to play in gorgeous Country Club like Boca Grove or Woodfield…

You post your score on the website that will automatically update your points in the standing:

  • 3 Pts for winning
  • 2 Pts for losing in 3 sets
  • 1 Pt for losing in 2 sets
  • Forfeit=2 Pts.

At the end of our Regular Season (10 to 12 matches), we will have a Playoff Tournament where only the top 4 to 8 players of each league qualifies. It is a direct elimination draw that will designate the winner of each league. The winners will get a Trophy or Gift Cards.

First of all, thank you for playing in it. My first motivation when I created this league was to make tennis players from different clubs play singles together. So always keep in mind to have fun, do the best you can, play within the rules and be friendly to your tennis mates.

When I set up your games on the Website, the name of the left is HOME and the name on the right is AWAY. That’s an option that can be changed at your convenience anytime. Again, be flexible and open minded.

For instance, if for medical reason a player can play only on clay courts, then find a place to play on clay.

We have members from Boca Grove, 7 Bridges, Swim & Racket, Santa Barbara, Mission Bay, Seasons, Coral Springs, The Oaks, Boca city…  So I encourage everyone to be ready for a nice tennis adventure. Personally, I think it’s nice to play in a different club, see different people or structures, maybe better lights or better surface…

If you are AWAY, some time to time you will have to pick up a guest fee. It’s never over 10$ anyway. A few HOME players don’t mind taking care of it (very generous). Also, most of private country club don’t have any guest fees.

Regarding tennis balls for the match, the best way to handle it is to bring a new can of balls EACH. Open 1 can, the loser taking the used balls, the winner getting the brand new one.

You will have around 10-12 matches total in the regular season. At the end of those rounds, we will qualify the top 4 or top 8 of each division (depending on how many players within your division) and do a tournament format with direct elimination.

The Winner of the Playoff Tournament will be the Winner of the Division. Each Division Winner will be rewarded with a Trophy.

If you cannot play, because you are going away or you are injured, let me know and I will try to make some changes.

If you are in the situation where you have contacted the player you are supposed to play and you don’t get anything back from him/her within 4 days, you will be able to challenge any other player in your division. This way you don’t get stuck with a player that is too busy to answer. I won’t give names 😉

Simply email or text or call back with a “YES I CAN PLAY”…..OR ……”NO I CANNOT PLAY RIGHT NOW BUT I CAN PLAY SOON” ……OR….. “NO I CANNOT PLAY, YOU BETTER CHALLENGE SOMEONE ELSE”.. those are examples of answer I would like to see.

SPECIAL NOTE: You can’t challenge the same player more than 3 times. If you challenge someone, just let me know…

You can also email me and ask me to get you a game if your opponent cannot play.

Format of the Games:  Regular format, sets of 6 games, best of 3 sets. You can also play 2 regular sets and then a super tie-break of 10 points instead of the third set.

I would like to see your best understanding when you try to set up the game. Sometimes your schedules don’t match; please try to find a compromise in order to respect each other obligations. Flexibility is important.

Standings System:

1 point per set won, 1 point per match played: If you win in 2 or 3 sets, you get 3 points. If you lose in 2 sets, it’s 1. If you lose in 3 sets, it’s 2 points. Forfeit is 2 points.

Remember that the way we count points WILL ENCOURAGE PLAYERS TO PLAY AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. Since playing is at least awarded by a point, this will make a big difference in your standing if you play a lot.
